About Us The Savoy Company of Philadelphia was formed in 1901 and remains the oldest amateur theater company in the world dedicated to performing exclusively the works of Gilbert & Sullivan, including perennial favorites HMS Pinafore, The Mikado, and The Pirates of Penzance. Join The Savoy Company as we celebrate our 125th anniversary year with Gilbert & Sullivan’s sparkling operetta, The Gondoliers! The Savoy Company’s fresh, creative revisioning of this classic show, presented in partnership with the Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia and the Japanese American Citizens League, provides an opportunity for audiences to enjoy this masterwork of comedic and musical genius through the groovy lens of the 1960s.

The Savoy Company is proud to partner with the University of Pennsylvania Libraries, who maintain our archives. A special exhibit was presented through 2016 that focused on the nearly 115 years of Savoy history. Join The Savoy Company as we journey back to 1947 when an amateur acting troupe, The Gilbert & Sullivan Players of Conksbury, is preparing a special theatrical event in celebration of the Princess’s engagement. The Savoy Company is oldest amateur Gilbert & Sullivan troupe in the world, performing since 1901.
