I also use the Humalog Quikpen and I don't use the whole thing either. I always start a new pen on the 15th of the month. This makes it easier to remember for me.

This also means that I am using it longer than the 28 days. I have, at times, wondered if it was working as well as it should the last few days but overall I don't notice much difference. All you can do is try to extend a few days ... I know I have about 30 days once the insulin is out of the fridge, but I am wondering, how long does insulin last in the fridge?

Lantus, Humalog and Novolog seem to spoil faster than Regular and NPH. If you can't afford to buy insulin and insurance does not cover it, you may be able to get it free. Just wondering how long the newer insulins keep. I never really thought about them going bad, but I certainly wouldn't want to use insulin that is too old.
